Check out how Handler answers calls for Hello VAC

The front desk that never goes to voice mail.

Handler is an AI front desk built for South Florida AC companies. It answers every call, triages the problem, and books the job on your calendar — nights, weekends, and the third week of July when everyone calls at once.

You never lose a $500–$10,000 job because someone didn't answer the phone. If your phone rings after hours, on the weekend, or while your techs are out in the field, Handler answers it like it's sitting in your office — takes the address, triages the problem, and books the visit.

The jobs you lose are the ones you never hear about.

A homeowner's air handler quits at 8:40pm on a Friday. They call you. They get voicemail. They call the next name on Google. You never find out that job existed.

Research on home services puts missed inbound calls at roughly 27%.1 One study of small businesses found fewer than 40% of calls reached a live person at all.2 In South Florida, where an emergency call is $300 to $900 and a changeout is five figures, that math gets expensive fast.

Your CSR is good. She just can't be on three lines at 4pm and also be there Sunday morning.

Built for shops that run like yours.

Handler is a fit if this sounds familiar:

  • 2–20 people on the team
  • The owner still answers the phone
  • Your techs spend the day out in the trucks
  • You get emergency calls — nights and weekends
  • No full-time receptionist
  • Missed calls quietly go to a competitor

It answers. It asks the right questions. It books.

Answers on the first ring, 24/7

No hold music, no "your call is important to us." Handler picks up in under two seconds, every time, including the 40 calls that hit at once after a storm.

Knows what to ask about an AC

Blowing warm or not blowing at all? Ice on the lineset? Water around the air handler? Breaker tripped? Handler asks what your best dispatcher would ask, gets the model and serial off the unit, and hands your tech a job that's already half-diagnosed.

Books into your real schedule

Not a summary email you read in the morning. Handler holds a slot, respects your dispatch rules and service areas, and confirms the window with the customer before it hangs up.

Speaks the way South Florida speaks

English and Spanish — switching mid-sentence when your customer does, without a menu tree.

Knows an emergency when it hears one

No cooling, elderly household, 94 degrees outside? That call gets flagged and a human gets it. Handler is built to know what it shouldn't handle.

The revenue that dies in a shoebox.

Maintenance plans that renew themselves. Handler works your member list on their anniversary and books the tune-up. No spreadsheet, no reminder to remind yourself.

Estimates that get followed up. That $8,400 changeout quote from three weeks ago is still sitting there. Handler follows up on day 3, day 7, day 21 — politely, then stops.

Reviews you actually ask for. A text after every visit. Happy customers get pointed at Google. Unhappy ones get pointed at you, before they get pointed at the internet.

Invoices that chase themselves. Payment links go out, follow-ups go out, and you stop being the guy who calls people about money.

We're clear about the limits. Your customers will be too.

Handler doesn't diagnose. Florida requires a licensed contractor for that, and a guess over the phone is worth less than nothing. It gathers symptoms and gets your tech on site.

Handler doesn't sell your $9,000 system. It books the estimate. You close it.

Handler doesn't argue with an upset customer. It gets them a human in about eight seconds.

And it tells every caller it's an AI assistant, at the top of the call. Every time. In a business built on trust, hiding that is a bad trade.

Questions we get.

Will my customers know it's not a person?

Yes — Handler says so in the first sentence. What we've found is that people care far more about someone picking up at 9pm than about who picked up.

What if it books something stupid?

It won't book outside your service area, outside your hours, or into a slot you've blocked. Every booking hits your phone as a text the second it happens. You can override anything.

We already have an answering service.

Answering services take a message. Handler takes the job. Ask yours what percentage of after-hours calls they convert to a booked appointment — most can't tell you, because the answer is low.

I'm not on ServiceTitan.

Good. Most of the AI tools in this category require it. Handler works with Housecall Pro, Jobber, FieldEdge, Workiz, ServiceM8 — or just your Google Calendar if that's how you run.

What about my CSR? I'm not firing anyone.

Neither are we. Handler takes the nights, the weekends, and the overflow. Every shop we've worked with had someone doing that on their own time. Now they don't.

Is this legal? I've heard about AI calling rules.

It is, and we've built for it. Inbound calls are straightforward. For outbound — reminders, renewals, surveys — we only contact your existing customers about their own service, we disclose AI, we honor opt-outs immediately, and we log everything. Florida has the strictest telemarketing law in the country and we treat it that way.

How long to get running?

About a week. We listen to your calls, learn your service area and pricing, and test it with you before it takes a live one.

How Handler compares.

ServiceForge answers with live people; the chat tools below wait for someone to visit your site and type. Handler answers every call instantly with AI — and puts a real person one step away for anything it can't handle. You don't have to choose between "always answered" and "a human when it matters." When an AC dies at 9pm, nobody opens a chat widget. They call — and Handler picks up, every time, with no per-minute meter.

ServiceForge is a live human answering service (from AnywhereWorks, parent of AnswerForce/AnswerConnect); the other tools are website chat platforms. Competitor pricing and features verified from vendor pages, pricing trackers, and operator reports as of August 2026; Podium, Birdeye, and Hatch do not publish pricing, so those figures are third-party reported and may vary by quote. Trademarks belong to their respective owners; Handler is not affiliated with any vendor listed.
