Hear how Handler answers a live call

The front desk that never goes to voice mail.

Handler is an AI front desk built for South Florida salons & spas. It answers every call, books the appointment on your calendar, and handles reschedules — even when every chair is full and no one can get to the phone.

You never lose a booking because the front desk was rinsing color. When your phone rings during a service, after close, or on the one Saturday everyone wants in, Handler answers it like your best receptionist — takes the service they want, books the right stylist and the right length of slot, and confirms it by text.

The bookings you lose are the ones you never hear ring.

A regular calls to move her Saturday color, a new client found you on Instagram and wants a cut this week, someone wants to book a couples massage for an anniversary. It's 2pm, both stylists are mid-service, and the desk is checking someone out. The phone rings out. They book somewhere else. You never knew the call happened.

One study of small businesses across 58 industries found fewer than 40% of calls reached a live person at all.1 For an appointment business, every one of those is a chair that sits empty and a client who may not call back — and the lifetime value of a regular who books every six weeks is worth far more than the one call.

Your front-desk person is great. They just can't ring up a client, answer two lines, and rebook a cancellation all at once — and they're gone by the time the after-hours calls come in.

Built for salons & spas that run like yours.

Handler is a fit if this sounds familiar:

  • 2–20 chairs, stylists, or treatment rooms
  • The front desk is also ringing people up and shampooing
  • Calls ring out while everyone's mid-service
  • You get after-hours and weekend booking requests
  • No dedicated, full-time receptionist
  • No-shows and missed calls quietly cost you chairs

It answers. It books the right slot. It cuts no-shows.

Answers on the first ring, even when every chair is full

No hold music, no "please leave a message." Handler picks up in under two seconds, every time — including the calls that stack up on a Friday afternoon and the ones that come in after you've locked the door.

Knows how to book a salon appointment

Which service, which stylist or provider if they have a favorite, new client or returning? Handler asks what your best front-desk person would ask, holds the right-length slot, and never books a two-hour balayage into a thirty-minute gap.

Books into your real schedule

Not a message you read later. Handler books straight into Vagaro, Booksy, Fresha, Square Appointments, Boulevard — or your Google Calendar — respects each stylist's availability, and confirms the time with the client before it hangs up.

Reschedules, and fills the gap

Cancellations are where salons bleed money. Handler picks up the reschedule, offers the next open time, and confirms by text — so a hole in the book becomes a kept appointment instead of an empty chair.

Confirms and reminds by text

Every booking lands on the client's phone as a confirmation, and reminders go out before the appointment — the single most reliable way to cut no-shows. It speaks English and Spanish, switching mid-sentence when your client does.

We're clear about the limits. Your clients will be too.

Handler doesn't hard-sell. It books the appointment and answers what's on the menu — it won't pressure someone into an add-on they didn't ask about.

Handler doesn't quote a custom color correction sight unseen. It books the consultation. Your stylist prices it in the chair.

Handler doesn't argue with an unhappy client. It gets them a human in about eight seconds.

And it tells every caller it's an AI assistant, at the top of the call. Every time. In a business built on relationships, hiding that is a bad trade.

Questions we get.

Will my clients know it's not a person?

Yes — Handler says so in the first sentence. What we've found is that people care far more about someone picking up and booking them in than about who picked up.

Can it book a specific stylist and service?

Yes. It asks the service, the stylist or provider if the client has a preference, and whether they're new or returning, then holds the right-length slot on your real calendar and confirms it. It won't book outside your hours or a stylist's availability.

Does Handler work with my booking software?

Handler books into your real calendar — Vagaro, Booksy, Fresha, Square Appointments, Boulevard — or just Google Calendar if that's how you run the desk.

Will it actually help with no-shows?

Every booking gets an SMS confirmation, and Handler sends reminders and picks up reschedules. The calls a busy front desk misses are exactly the ones that turn into empty chairs.

What about my front-desk person? I'm not replacing anyone.

Neither are we. Handler takes the calls that ring while your person is checking someone out or shampooing — the overflow, the after-hours, the Saturday rush. They keep doing what they do best.

Is this legal? I've heard about AI calling rules.

It is, and we've built for it. Inbound calls are straightforward. For outbound — reminders, confirmations — we only contact your existing clients about their own appointments, we disclose AI, we honor opt-outs immediately, and we log everything. Florida has the strictest telemarketing law in the country and we treat it that way.

How long to get running?

About a week. We learn your services, prices, stylists, and hours, and test it with you before it takes a live call.

How Handler compares.

ServiceForge answers with live people; the chat tools below wait for someone to visit your site and type. Handler answers every call instantly with AI — and puts a real person one step away for anything it can't handle. You don't have to choose between "always answered" and "a human when it matters." When a client calls to book while both stylists are mid-service, nobody opens a chat widget. They call — and Handler picks up, every time, for about $15 a day.

ServiceForge is a live human answering service (from AnywhereWorks, parent of AnswerForce/AnswerConnect); the other tools are website chat platforms. Competitor pricing and features verified from vendor pages, pricing trackers, and operator reports as of August 2026; Podium, Birdeye, and Hatch do not publish pricing, so those figures are third-party reported and may vary by quote. Trademarks belong to their respective owners; Handler is not affiliated with any vendor listed.
